Taking over one of my Gramma'south traditions, each year I like to create a special ornament to give to my family members for Christmas. It doesn't have to exist anything fancy, only it does demand to be handmade. And so every year when these special ornaments are added to the tree, it serves as a reminder that fifty-fifty though we are moving in our own directions and don't go to visit every bit often every bit nosotros used to, we all the same love and think about each other especially during the holidays. Last year I made these Glitter Snowball Ornaments, and anybody really enjoyed them.

After celebrating one of my fiddling cousin'south 16th Altogether this past spring, I've been thinking a lot about my grandparents, and how (as much as I wish they could) they aren't going to be around forever. So this year I wanted to make something that was more specific to my memories of them, and a reminder of all those by Christmases when I wasn't so well…Old. As a kid I ever loved my grandparents fancy flocked ornaments: santas, teddy bears, stockings, and tiny gingerbread houses all covered with a thin layer of velvety softness, and creating a more modern accept on those precious ornaments seemed like the perfect family souvenir this year.

If you lot'd like to make a few of your own velvety ornaments this Christmas, you lot'll exist pleasantly surprised merely how piece of cake they are to make. Working with flocking powder just like using glitter, and I'grand pretty sure near of us mastered that task in simple school, so this would be a dandy projection to work on with your older kids. Create a few of your ain special Christmas ornament memories!

Supplies:

Flocking powder – Ornaments (plastic or glass) – Double sided sticker sheets

Decorative pigsty dial – Paintbrush  – Newspaper plate or piece of paper to take hold of leftover powder

Use your hole punch to create a bunch of double sided stickers.

Remove the backing from i side of the stickers and attach them to your ornament.

Peel off the second layer of backing and sprinkle the sticker with flocking powder.

A straight pin is helpful when trying to remove extra stubborn pieces of backing.

Use your finger to tap the flocking powder firmly into the sticky areas and so brush away any excess with a soft paintbrush.

That's information technology! You lot can use dissimilar punches to form tons of new patterns, or draw a freehand design and create your own original stickers. If you accept a cutting car, you may even exist able to cut far more intricate shapes, only be careful to keep your images pocket-size.
